and short articles about Miriavyn

ONE YEAR AGO SHE DIDN'T SING, THE YEAR AFTER SHE RELEASES AN ALBUM OF HER OWN

Despite several years of singing lessons through elementary school and high school, she stopped singing from the stage after graduation. It was something that was missing. "I do not think I can sing clean", "I probably can not stay on the beat", "Probably no one wants to hear". "Beauty comes from within, so to be able to sing well, I have to be well inside first." Miriavyn continued to perform with her harp, but her mouth was silent. At Christmas 2018, she received new singing lessons from her father, and already after the first one, she received what she had missed through all the years. Someone told her that yes, you sing well. You should not be silent. But after the second lesson, everything was frustratedly dark. "I do not understand! It is physically impossible to sing when you breathe like that. I can not, I can not, I can not!" On a whim, she let her colleague predict her on the theme of singing, and the answers the cards showed turned everything around: "You already have everything you need. Soon you will want to show others what you can do." And that was true. After the third lesson, the pieces of the puzzle fell into place, already in the autumn she sang from the stage, and the following year she released her album "Blue Magic" where several songs not only had vocal elements, but the vocals as the main instrument. Today, Miriavyn offers her voice via the service Soundbetter, a big step from the quiet years. "It's about believing in yourself. I still get insecure sometimes, doubts. Is it good enough, can I handle this? But as long as I can find the beauty inside, I will be able to get through it."

"The harp? yes, ok, let's go for it!"

"How come you started to play the harp?" is a question Miriavyn often gets. Actually, there are several answers to that: "I have always thought the harp was something of a fairy tale instrument, something the elves played under enchanted trees." During the Medieval Week Festival on Gotland, just outside the rumbling and noisy jousting games, she found a small harpist and got stuck there, losing contact with the rest of her party. That could be the starting shot. In the autumn, it was time to choose the third instrument course for the music program in high school, "You can choose what ever you want", said the teacher. "Last year, for example, someone chose a bagpipe." "Harp?" tested Miriavyn, very much on pure impulse. "Sure," the teacher replied. "Okay. Then let's go for it!" And that's the way it was. A teacher were found in Stockholm, so she had to commute there seven or eight times in the coming year for lessons. The rest is self-taught. "I played the piano before, and the harp and piano have a lot similarities. It was easy to translate from one to the other."

- Have you ever regretted that impulse to ask for the harp?

-No. Sometimes I wonder where I would have been if I had not done so. I definitely would not have been where I am today!

HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED LOVE - NOW SHE WRITES HER OWN SONGS

"No, I don't think I've ever really experienced it. Or I actually I don't really know what it is." All songs are about love, that was pretty much what Miriavyn thought for many years. She listened to the melodies, the voices and the music. Rarely did she hear the lyrics themselves. "They could just as well have been in a language I don't know. I pick up words here and there, maybe a bit of the chorus. What the song was about, I invented myself based on the feeling in the music itself." But even with the lyrics in front of her, if it was one of those love songs, it was not very clear. "It was hard to put soul and emotion into songs about love, it felt like I was lying. So I started writing my own lyrics, songs I could stand for myself. Songs I understood." Nowadays, her repertoire consists of texts on other themes, both written by others and herself. "Often they are about seekers. Or about thawing a frozen soul."

-You have your own theories about the thing with love?

-Yes. I wonder if not all songs, books and movies give a picture of how it should be that may not really match reality. That I expect something else than what exists. Maybe it's just me who takes them too literally, after all it's hard to describe such invisible things as emotions. Or perhaps it is like they sing, and then I have something to look forward to. :)
